Barcode reading by mobile phones can be useful in many situations. The barcode, sometimes called a tag, can contain a direct link to a webpage, meaning that the user doesn't have to type in the URL-address. A barcode in a newspaper can link directly to a page with movie clips, frequently updated information, like weather forecasts, stock prices, sport results or the latest news. A barcode in an advertisement can lead the reader to the webpage of a product campaign with product information, interactive content and special offers. Barcodes can also be used to quickly add contact information to the phonebook, order a ringtone, download a background image or a game, join a competition etc.

InMoDo's barcode (tag) reading technology for camera phones allows either direct interpretation of the barcodes in the mobile phone, or sending the captured image by MMS to a server for processing. InMoDo offers efficient reading of not only the standardized one and two dimensional barcodes, such as Data Matrix, Aztec, EAN-13, but also of our own iz-code which is optimized for printing, for instance in newspapers, and there taking up very little space.

InMoDo's barcode reading technology is modularized and easily integrated in existing Java and Symbian applications where barcode reading functionality is desired.
